Why Teacher’s Day is celebrated in India

Teacher’s Day  is celebrated in India on every 5th Sep to pay  tribute to the contribution made by teachers in developing the society.

5th September is also birth anniversary of a great teacher Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the President of India who was a staunch believer of education. Many may not be aware he was master  in Philosophy. He authored  ‘The Philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore’, his first book in 1917 . He taught at Chennai’s Presidency College and Calcutta University and later  the Vice Chancellor of Andhra Pradesh University from 1931 to 1936. In 1936, Eastern Religions and Ethics at Oxford was invited Radhakrishnan to teach in their esteemed institution.

The entire nation pays tribute and salutes the contribution to the hard work teachers put up in nurturing children and bring knowledge.

Teachers are highly respected in our society and  in Teacher’s Day all students get together and thank teacher’s of nation .  Happy Teacher’s Day!!
